Monitor relational cloud databases with the AWS RDS v2 sensor
According to Amazon, integrating their local relational database into the Amazon Cloud is both quick and easy. However, it’s usually only after working with the database on a daily basis that you can determine whether the move from the computer center to the cloud was a success.
It won’t take you long to tell if the purchased computing power is sufficient, if the memory and network are able to cope with the data load, and if queries are processed with the speed you need. With the PRTG network monitoring tool, you can use the AWS RDS v2 sensor to keep track of all this and more.
Amazon RDS and relational databases
Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) can be used with six well-known databases:
- Amazon Aurora
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- MariaDB
- Oracle Database
- Microsoft SQL Server
The AWS Database Migration Service helps you move your database to Amazon RDS.
Amazon RDS has several pitfalls –
here’s how to avoid them
IT managers need to be aware of and monitor several parameters when switching from their own relational database to Amazon Cloud. These include CPU credits, available storage, the I/O values of the database and network, and information on current memory use.
PRTG Network Monitor comes with the AWS RDS v2 sensor for monitoring these values and more. Thanks to this sensor, you can quickly fix any weak spots that may have been overlooked and optimize the performance of your cloud-based database for your users.
Why you should monitor Amazon RDS databases with PRTG
Cloud databases are vital to any business. With the AWS RDS v2 sensor, you can make sure they run smoothly and error-free.
The AWS RDS v2 sensor helps you optimize the performance of your cloud databases, which is especially important for online stores and other web applications that must be available at all times.
PRTG keeps a constant eye on the performance of Amazon cloud databases so you can make sure you’re getting what you paid for – and your users benefit from the level of service they need.
The AWS RDS v2 sensor monitors key values such as processor load, CPU credits, memory usage, database statistics, and network utilization.
